Bespoke Courses and Family Boatbuilding

We are keen to go beyond our main public programme to offer courses to people in a way which works best for them. We’ve run courses with community groups across Scotland and are keen to do more builds with families, friend groups, water sports clubs or anything else!

We can either secure a space and host you on Mull, Iona or elsewhere or we can often come to you, we’ve built boats in marquees, school halls and lots of sheds of various grades of quality. We can build anything from a single rowing boat to a fleet of sea kayaks in a week.

Due to the flexibility of this, we can accommodate a lot of variations in your groups size and the boats we are building. Options include our open canoe, or the Echo Bay or Caravelle rowing boats - either of which can potentially be rigged for sailing if that is of interest. However if you have something else in mind we’re always keen to talk about boats, we’ve been day dreaming of stand up paddle boards recently… We try to make sure all the building happens in a week but usually the boats will need some finishing work after the course, you can expect to spend a week or so painting, varnishing and a bit of dreaded sanding!

For families we can work with children as young as 8, though we tend to find that younger children are happier if they can come and go from the process. We can ensure we have enough support around to make sure this can happen and the boats can still get built!

If you come to us on Mull we can work with you to help find accommodation meeting the level of comfort you desire.

We have a range of staff that can work flexibly with you to make sure you get the experience you want. Get in touch with us to talk about what we can do with you and your group!
