Workshop and Croft
Our new workshop is on the Isle of Mull near the village of Bunessan on our own 10 acre croft. Since 2020 we’ve been developing the land, building a house and workshop while planting trees, making gardens, digging a pond, creating a camping area and all the myriad things that go alongside a major building project.
Inside we have a large dedicated teaching space, with plenty of room to build 4 boats at once and with all the tools, materials and equipment needed within easy reach. Nearby is a store area and machine shop space which allows us to produce almost anything out of timber on site. It’s a traditional timber framed building, with huge section Douglas Fir timbers, hand made with real craft by James Thomson of Thomson Timber
Alongside the working space we have a domestic area with a generous shared kitchen, equipped with a cooker with oven, two under-counter fridges, cupboard space and of course a sizeable kitchen table. There are two toilets both with showers.
Participants on courses have use of the workshop and domestic spaces.
We have 2 yurts (mongolian style timber framed tents) on the croft that we offer as accommodation for the courses. These are glamping at it’s finest, comfy beds, cosy wood stoves and nice views. These spaces are a significant upgrade on your own tent and we do our very best to make sure you are comfy after a hard day’s work on your boat. They are both set up with double beds but if you’d like them to be set up with twin beds this can be arranged, but do contact us before booking.
