About
Archipelago Folkschool is a collaborative social enterprise that connects people with craft. We run short courses in beautiful places as well as getting involved in all sorts of things.
All our courses are located at our beautiful new workshop on the Isle of Mull. All our courses last a week and you’ll start with a pile of timber and finish with a stunning new boat of your own to take home. We don’t expect anyone to know anything in advance, we are used to working with people who have never made anything in their lives and can teach anyone to make a beautiful, useful new boat! We’ve had participants as young as 12 (with a parent) and as old as 81 too! All of our courses include camping next to the workshop and use of a shared kitchen for relaxing in the evenings - that’s if you’re not nipping off for a swim from some of beautiful beaches nearby. You can find out more about our courses, our workshop and the boats we build through this site. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. Our 2025 course dates are:
May 17th to 24th
June 21st to 28th
July 19th to 26th
August 16th to 23rd
Join us on the beautiful Ross of Mull
And do something really special
All our courses take place on the ross of Mull on our home croft - Torr a’ Channaich on the Ardtun peninsula near the village of Bunessan. over 2021-23 we have been building a purpose built, timber framed teaching workshop with a clean teaching space, a slightly more messy machine shop and store room and toilets and a kitchen. From autumn 2023 we’ll also be offering space hire of this really unique location. So if you are interested do get in touch.
